HAPPY MONDAY, Thank you for your support and enthusiasm during this time of schedule-calibration. Trina and I think about Todd & Penny everyday. Trina has put in an amazing amount of work already this year to assure our proverbial gumballs continue plinking through the dispenser and into your eager hands — as demonstrated in this latest page.
When we last saw our sequential sweethearts, Penny gave chase as Todd hurtled towards the local cinema with his soon-to-be-fair-use underwear billowing behind him. Marvel in the spectacle of our Award-Season-ready trip to the movies below.
Please remember Gumball Man is NSFW, but that doesn’t mean don’t read it at work.
***You can enjoy Trina’s work on your own “big screen” with the above PDF & CBZ files… or engage in the Scrolling behavior that has been causing even more audiences to flee from movie-going than Todd does with the embedded version below.
Find out what awaits Penny in the auditorium she is approaching next time, when we will be one page-turn away from our long heralded SPLASH PAGE.
This page is a treasure chest of fleeing movie patrons created by Trina aka @Trinscope. I would emit my own “screee” every time she shared a new layer of detail or color with me. What movies are you looking forward to? There are a few advertised in the ‘Gumball-verse’ above. Trina went to see Dune II this weekend. I have dubbed her journey a research trip for the NEXT page, mostly to see what an American auditorium looks like, but perhaps we will offer our own take on a “sand worm” soon.
I will have more to say in a followup post with some really cool process stuff that includes Trina making a choice to work more on paper. For now I want to thank everyone who has been with us from the “bounce”. Our first post on Substack went out exactly one-year-ago to the day!
What a wild year it has been. We are truly humbled by the support we have received, ranging from our closest friends to folks that are literally our biggest inspirations in comics. The one-year anniversary of our first page’s “boing” will occur in April.
Before that we will be tabling at Wondercon on March 29th — 31st in Anaheim. If you plan to be there please track us down at Small Press Booth 38. I will give you a free copy of these opening pages, and maybe a free gumball (if my supportive girlfriend allows me to keep giving away the delicious original recipe confections she sponsored our table with). Next post I will elaborate on the cool collaborations we will be flaunting at Wondercon where we will have a very special guest at our table: two time Emmy Award-winning writer, and cartoonist for The New Yorker, José Arroyo. In other coming attractions, I will also elaborate on Écharpe Noveau — a cinematic movement identified by my ceaselessly impressive filmmaker pal, Michael Tully — which has now been rendered into some amazing comic easter-eggs by Trina Dasgupta. More on all of that later, I want to get out of the way of Trina’s great page.
Have a great week and thank you again for the incredibly motivating support,
-The TDs
